Backstreet Boys To Launch World Tour In Belgium

The Backstreet Boys will launch a world tour in support of their just-released Millenium album on June 2nd in Ghent, Belgium, they announced at a press conference in New York on Monday (5/17). Following a planned 43-date European tour, the group will prepare for a US tour, set to begin in September.

The group's sophomore effort will face tough comparisons to their debut album, which has climbed back into the #38 position on this week's pop album chart after nearly two years in stores. Sales for the self-titled effort have topped 10 million copies.

According to Billboard, the group's US tour will begin September 19th in Miami and play 56 markets before breaking on December 1st. The projected launch date falls one day after the final show on 'N Sync's current itinerary.

A Disney special titled ''Backstreet Boys In Concert'' was recently taped at New York's New Amsterdam Theatre and is scheduled to air on July 10th. The group is set to guest on MTV's Total Request Live on Tuesday (5/18) to mark the Millenium's release and is scheduled to appear on the Rosie O'Donnell show on Thursday and on the Tonight Show on Friday.

A full US tour schedule is expected to be released in coming weeks.
