Morissette, Amos Tour Names Opening Acts
Alanis Morissette and Tori Amos --after scrutinizing many of the 23,000 artists who have made their digitally-encoded music available for download on the MP3.com website -- have culled five artists to fill support slots on the "5 1/2 Weeks Tour."
The ''handpicked'' opening acts for the tour will be Greta Gaines (Aug. 18-24), Chlorophyll (Aug. 25-31), Ray Lane (Sept. 1-8), Lotusland (Sept. 10-16), and Sci-Fi Lullaby (Sept. 9-26).
MP3.com, which is co-sponsoring the tour with Best Buy, has announced several new elements on the Alanis and Tori website (http://www.alanisandtori.com), including a live webcast from the Minneapolis concert on Sept. 16, online chats, daily concert coverage, contests, and CD sales.
The site launched in May with an advance ticket sales program that required registration at the site in order to receive access to tickets before they were put on sale through regular channels.
Tori Amos will end the tour with the release of a double album featuring both live material and new studio work. Amos will immediately embark on her own tour in support of the new release. The tour will route primarily through markets missed on the co-headline outing, starting in Dallas, Tex., on September 29th.
