Eminem to be offered plea deal on gun charges

Bad boy rapper Eminem has been offered a plea-bargain deal in relation to two weapon charges brought against him last June in Michigan, according to the Detroit Free Press.

County prosecutor Carl Marlinga is reportedly willing to drop either the charge of assault with a deadly weapon or the charge of carrying a concealed weapon if the rapper will agree to plead guilty to one charge.

The plea bargain offered will not minimize the amount of time he could spend in jail, however, which could range from probation to 17 years in prison.

Marlinga told the Detroit Free Press, “Whether we go to trial or whether he pleads, we are going to be asking for significant jail time.”

Prosecutors will formally offer the deal when the rapper returns to court on Dec. 8.

Eminem, whose real name is Marshall Mathers, is accused of threatening his estranged wife Kimberly Mathers and John Guerra with a gun in a nightclub parking lot in Warren, Michigan on June 4. Mrs. Mathers and Guerra were alleged to be kissing when the rapper allegedly attacked them.

After his appearance on Dec. 8, Mathers is also due in court on Dec. 18 in relation to other gun charges after an alleged incident happened outside of a stereo store in Oakland County, Michigan.
