Warren Zevon, Jill Sobule link for three-week tour

Singer-songwriter Warren Zevon , who released his first new studio album in five years this January, is laying out year-end tour plans to support the release. Jill Sobule , who was the opening act for a round of Zevon dates this spring, will support on most dates.

Zevon>’s latest album, "Life’ll Kill Ya," is his first for Artemis Records, an independent label formed in 1999 by longtime music industry exec Danny Goldberg. Though the album peaked at No. 173 on the Billboard 200 album chart in February, it reached No. 8 on the magazine’s Top Independent Albums chart. It also gained near-universal raves from critics.

"Life’ll Kill Ya"--a follow-up to the little-noticed 1995 Zevon release "Mutineer"--was produced by Paul Kolderie and Sean Slade (Radiohead, Hole, and the Mighty Mighty Bosstones). 10 of the 12 cuts of the album were demo cuts that Zevon recorded in his Los Angeles home studio.

In 1996, Rhino Records released a 2-CD anthology that covered his career from the mid-‘70s through the mid-‘90s.

Sobule, who is touring in support of her latest release, “Pink Pearl,” isn’t expected to open Zevon’s Dec. 2 show in Philadelphia because she is scheduled to play an acoustic show at the Tin Angel in Philadelphia on the same night.
