Tegan and Sara prep new album, book collection

Identical twins Tegan and Sara will release their sixth studio album, "Sainthood," on Oct. 27, according to a press release. The album, produced by Howard Redekopp and Death Cab for Cutie's Chris Walla, is the follow-up to the Canadian band's critically acclaimed 2007 release, "The Con."

The two sisters also plan to release a three-book set that chronicles different time periods from the past year of the band members' lives: the 2008 US national tour, the 2009 Australian tour and a joint writing session in New Orleans for the new album.

The books, titled "On, In, At," are being released in conjunction with the "Sainthood" pre-sale via the band's website.

Tegan and Sara will kick-off the album and book release with four shows: Oct. 25-26, at the Orpheum Theater in Los Angeles and Oct. 30-31 at New York City's Town Hall. They'll also perform on The Tonight Show with Conan O'Brien on Nov. 2.

Plans for a full US tour in February 2010 are in the works.
