Live Announces Fall Tour Dates

After whetting the appetite of fans last month at Woodstock and following up with a free show at the Parc Des Illes festival site in Montreal on Saturday, Live is preparing for a two-month-long tour that will quickly sweep the band through more than 30 North American cities.

Live will be touring behind their fourth album for Radioactive Records, ''The Distance to Here,'' which is scheduled for release on Oct. 5.

The full North American tour opens Sept. 30 in Columbia, S.C., and will primarily hit theater- and auditorium-sized venues. Live is warming up for the tour with a series of private club dates, including one that took place last Thursday at New York's Torch, according to a Rolling Stone report.

According to the Friendsoflive.com web site -- where the tour dates were first announced -- the band is also planning a special New Year's Eve show somewhere in the band's home state of Pennsylvania. Further details will be released as the big day approaches.

Friendsoflive.com is playing a large part in the promotional push for the new album. The site premiered its first single, ''The Dolphin's Cry,'' last week. It previously took fans through the new album's recording process with a real-time webcast of the band in the recording studio.

''The Distance to Here'' was co-produced by ex-Talking Head and Modern Lover Jerry Harrison, who also worked on Live's 1991 debut, ''Mental Jewelry,'' and the multi-platinum LP ''Throwing Copper.''
