John Mayer Trio to close out 2009 on stage
Currently putting the finishing touches on his follow-up to 2006's Grammy-winning "Continuum," singer/songwriter/guitarist John Mayer will return to the stage for a pair of year-ending shows with bassist Pino Palladino and drummer Steve Jordan, collectively known as the John Mayer Trio.
The three musicians will get things started with a Dec. 29 performance at San Diego's Copley Symphony Hall, and then cap off 2009 with a New Year's Eve performance at The Joint in Las Vegas. Tickets for both shows will hit the box office this Saturday (9/26).
Mayer has spent much of 2009 working on his fourth studio album, which he recently announced via his Twitter feed will be titled "Battle Studies" and is due in stores Nov. 17. The set's first single will be the cut "Who Says."
Fans can get a behind-the-scenes look at the making of "Battle Studies" via a series of videos Mayer has been posting at his website.
Mayer and Jordan, who co-produced "Continuum," are again teaming for "Battle Studies," which will also feature Jordan on drums and Palladino on bass.
Mayer, Jordan and Palladino first made their public appearance during a Tsunami-aid segment at the 2005 Grammy Awards. The musicians subsequently toured together under the John Mayer Trio moniker, and in November of 2005 released a live album titled "Try!"
