Gov't Mule survivors plan Smile at Half Mast tour
Warren Haynes and Matt Abts of southern rock jam band Gov't Mule will perform as an acoustic duo on their Smile at Half Mast tour, during which they will open several November dates on Ben Harper 's tour. Gov't Mule had been booked to open the Harper shows prior to the death of the band's bass player Allen Woody in August.
The Smile at Half Mast tour--named for a poem Haynes wrote in tribute to Woody--will open with headlining shows in Philadelphia (11/6), Boston (11/7) and Charlottesville, Va. (11/8) before linking with the Ben Harper tour on Nov. 9 in Pittsburgh.
Allen Woody died in his sleep of unknown causes on Aug. 26. His body was discovered in his room at the Marriott Courtyard Hotel in East Elmhurst--near New York's LaGuardia Airport--by a hotel chambermaid, according to New York City police. A final report regarding the cause of his death has not been issued.
Haynes is currently on tour with Phil Lesh and Friends.
