Bob Dylan to release Christmas album
Bob Dylan will release his first Christmas-themed album this fall, proceeds from which help feed hungry people over the holidays.
All royalties from "Christmas in the Heart," due in stores Oct. 13, will be donated to Feeding America, "guaranteeing that more than four million meals will be provided to more than 1.4 million people in need in this country during this year's holiday season," according to a press release.
The album will feature the iconic singer's take on Christmas standards including "Here Comes Santa Claus," "Little Drummer Boy" and "Winter Wonderland," among others.
The set is scheduled to surface during Dylan's fall West Coast tour, which kicks off Oct. 5 in Seattle and runs through an Oct. 18 date in Las Vegas. Dylan will play two nights (10/10-11) in Berkeley, CA, and three nights (10/13-15) in Los Angeles during the seven-city outing. Tickets are currently on sale for all dates, except Phoenix, which go on sale Sept. 12, and Las Vegas, which are available starting Aug. 29.
During the tour, Dylan will also continue to support his latest album, "Together Through Life," which surfaced in April and is the 33rd official studio album in his long and storied recording career.
"Together Through Life" sold 125,000 copies its first week on shelves, according to Nielsen Soundscan, enough to debut at No. 1 on The Billboard 200. It marked Dylan's fifth entry in the top slot, and second in a row; "Modern Times" also debuted at No. 1.
