Album Chart: Sugarland leads Billboard 200, but Jackson still dominates
Sugarland's Wal-Mart exclusive CD/DVD set, "Live on the Inside," tops the forthcoming Billboard 200 album chart, but Michael Jackson's "Number Ones" compilation remains the best-selling album in the country.
With first-week sales of 76,000 copies, "Live on the Inside" makes its debut at No. 1 on The Billboard 200, according to Nielsen SoundScan retail data as reported by Billboard. That figure falls well below the 98,000 copies that Jackson's "Number Ones" racked up during its most recent week in stores, which is enough to earn the 2003 release No. 1 placement on the Top Comprehensive Albums chart for the sixth non-consecutive week since Jackson's death.
The Top Comprehensive Albums chart lists figures for all of the top-selling albums in the US, regardless of a particular album's age, according to Billboard; The Billboard 200 generally lists albums that are 18 months old or less.
Trailing Sugarland on The Billboard 200 are the "Now 31" hits compilation at No. 2 with sales of about 45,000 copies; Gloriana's self-titled debut at No. 3 with just under 45,000 copies; the Black Eyed Peas' "The E.N.D." at No. 4 with slightly less than "Gloriana"; and Kings of Leon's "Only By the Night" at No. 5 with a little more than 44,000 copies.
Rounding out the Top 10 are Daughtry's "Leave This Town" at No. 6 with just a few copies less than "Only By the Night"; Maxwell's "BLACKsummers'night" at No. 7 with 43,000 copies; Taylor Swift's "Fearless" at No. 8 with 37,000 copies; Fabolous' "Loso's Way" at No. 9 with just under Swift's total; and the 16th installment of the "Kidz Bop Kids" series at No. 10 with 34,000 copies.
