Album Chart: Demi Lovato grabs top slot, Michael Jackson sales still brisk
Demi Lovato's sophomore album, "Here We Go Again," will debut at No. 1 on The Billboard 200 chart, but Michael Jackson's posthumous sales continue to dominate the market.
"Here We Go Again" racked up a first-week tally of 108,000 copies, but Jackson's 2003 best-of set, "Number Ones"--which isn't eligible to appear on The Billboard 200 because of its age--moved 154,000 copies during its latest week, placing it atop the Top Comprehensive Albums chart, according to Nielsen SoundScan figures as reported by Billboard.
The rest of The Billboard 200's Top 5 shakes out with Daughtry's "Leave This Town," which, after debuting at No. 1 last week, slips into the second slot with sales of 101,000 copies; Maxwell's "BLACKsummer'snight" down a notch to No. 3 with 72,000 copies; the "Now 31" hits compilation at No. 4 with 58,000 copies; and the " Hannah Montana 3" television soundtrack down two places to No. 5 with 54,000 copies.
Rounding out the Top 10 are the Black Eyed Peas' "The E.N.D." at No. 6 with 52,000 copies; Jordin Sparks' "Battlefield," which debuts at No. 7 with 48,000 copies; Kings of Leon's "Only by the Night" at No. 8 with 39,000 copies; Taylor Swift's "Fearless" at No. 9 with 37,000 copies; and Lady GaGa's "The Fame" at No. 10 with 28,000 copies.
