The Get Up Kids plot reunion tour
After selling out comeback shows in New York, San Francisco and Los Angeles, indie rockers The Get Up Kids have confirmed plans for a full reunion tour this fall.
The emo band, which originally broke up in 2005, will kick off the reunion trek Sept. 11 in Kansas City, MO. The outing covers ample ground during the fall months, traveling through 40 cities and concluding with a Nov. 18 show in Austin, TX. Dates are below.
During the tour, the band will be supporting the 10th anniversary reissue of its most successful album, 1999's "Something to Write Home About." Due in stores Sept. 8, the deluxe package will include a DVD with a photo album and other content, as well a complete reunion performance filmed in March in Lawrence, KS.
The Get Ups Kids formed in 1995 and settled into their most successful lineup by 1999, the same year the group released of "Something to Write Home About": vocalist/guitarist Matt Pryor, brothers Ryan and Rob Pope on drums and bass respectively, guitarist Jim Suptic and keyboard player James Dewees. After releasing two additional albums--2002's "On a Wire" and 2004's "Guilt Show"--the group officially disbanded following a 2005 farewell performance in the band's hometown of Kansas City, MO.
The outfit's first reunion show took place last November in Kansas City, with additional dates following, including an appearance at this year's Bamboozle Festival in New Jersey.
