The Taste of Chicago Festival has come a long way since it started in 1980. Originally held within a three-block radius boarded by Michigan Avenue and the Chicago River, it was moved to Grant Park in 1981 due to the large turnout. Now it reportedly attracts millions of visitors annually from the region and well beyond.

This year, the family-friendly event spanned 10 days (June 26-July 5) and featured 54 food vendors, the Budweiser Clydesdales, and an award winning 4th of July fireworks display complete with musical accompaniment. The lineup of bands included Buddy Guy , Mavis Staples , Counting Crows, The Wallflowers , Lovehammers , Guster , Charlie Wilson of the Gap Band, Cameo, Barenaked Ladies, Ne-Yo , Booker T. Jones & the Drive-By Truckers and Augustana .
