Jason Mraz maps second leg of 'Gratitude' trek
Jason Mraz has announced dates for the second leg of his ongoing "Gratitude Cafe" trek, which will keep the singer/songwriter out on the road at least through October.
Mraz is set to kick off the outing July 24 in Hershey, PA, in a support role opening for the Dave Matthews Band (an additional date with DMB will follow Aug. 30 in Fresno, CA). With the new leg, the tour has grown to 37 cities in the US and Canada in about two-and-a-half months, with the new shows concentrating on the western half of North America, including a Sept. 6 stop at Seattle's Bumbershoot Festival, and concluding with an Oct. 10 performance at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles.
Mraz continues to support his third studio album, "We Sing. We Dance. We Steal Things," which debuted at No. 3 on The Billboard 200 after surfacing in May last year. The lead single, "I'm Yours," peaked at No. 6 on the Billboard Hot 100 and is currently the fifth-highest-selling digital single of all time, according to Mraz's publicist.
The album--Mraz's first set of all-new material since 2005's "Mr. A-Z"--was produced by Martin Terefe (KT Tunstall, Ron Sexsmith), and includes collaborations with British tunesmith James Morrison and singer/songwriter Colbie Caillat. Several songs from the record are streaming at Mraz's MySpace page.
The singer is set to release a new digital EP--"Yours Truly: The I'm Yours Collection"--this month. The EP will include the album version of "I'm Yours," along with the original demo version of the song, a live version recorded in Japan, and a reggae mix.
In November, Mraz released a limited-edition version of "We Sing," a 3-disc set that includes the original album on CD, a second CD containing three promotional EPs that were available only for a brief time following the album's release, and a DVD including a live show recorded at the Highline Ballroom in New York City, along with a 20-page CD booklet featuring song lyrics and new artwork.
