Garth Brooks says he’s done with touring, new album possible
Garth Brooks , in an interview published in the Oct. 14 issue of Billboard magazine, said that he may release one more album before he retires from the music business. However, he said he will not tour again before his 4-year-old daughter Allie is grown.
“Touring, unfortunately ... touring is gone,” he told the magazine. “It breaks my heart to say that, and it hurts. I just don't have that time to take away from my children. If I tour again, it's after Allie is 18. That's assuming that's the last child of my life.”
Brooks--who also revealed in the interview that he and his wife Sandy plan to divorce--said that whether or not he releases a new album will be dependant on the songs.
“Does one more album excite me? You know, yeah, making music always does excite me, but I don't know if as a songwriter I have it in me. ... If we can come up with songs that feel comparable to the other seven studio albums, then we might.”
Billboard also reports that Capitol Records will reissue Brooks’ 1998 concert album “Double Live” with a new cover on Oct. 24, and will re-release his first six studio albums on Nov. 21. The albums have been out of print since the 1998 release of “The Limited Series” box set. The re-released albums will also include the bonus songs that were originally included in the box set.
In a December 1999 interview on the TNN talk show "Crook & Chase," Brooks said that he would "probably" retire from touring at the end of 2000 so that he can devote more time to his children.
