Album Chart: Black Eyed Peas' "The E.N.D." returns to No. 1
Despite logging a one-week sales total well below that of three separate albums from the recently deceased King of Pop, The Black Eyed Peas ' "The E.N.D." slides back into the top slot on the US album chart this week.
With sales of 88,000 copies, "The E.N.D." lagged well behind Michael Jackson's "Number Ones," "The Essential Michael Jackson" and "Thriller," each of which sold more than 100,000 copies following news of the singer's death last week. However, none of Jackson's releases--all of which are categorized as "catalog albums"--are eligible to rank on The Billboard 200.
Meanwhile, last week's No. 1 entry, the Jonas Brothers ' "Lines, Vines & Trying Times," slips to No. 2 with sales of 68,000 copies; Regina Spektor 's "Far" debuts at No. 3 on sales of 50,000 copies; Dave Matthews Band 's "Big Whiskey & The Groogrux King" follows at No. 4 with 47,000 copies; and Eminem 's "Relapse" comes in at No. 5, just shy of DMB's sales total.
Rounding out the Top 10 are Dream Theater 's "Black Clouds & Silver Linings," which makes its debut at No. 6 after logging first-week sales of 40,000 copies; the "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen" soundtrack at No. 7 with 39,000 copies; Lady GaGa's "Fame" at No. 8 with 37,000 copies; Ginuwine 's "Man's Thoughts," which debuts at No. 9 with just under Lady GaGa's total; and the " Hannah Montana : The Movie" soundtrack at No. 10 with 34,000 copies.
