Jon Bon Jovi, Richie Sambora record with Iranian superstar

Jon Bon Jovi and Richie Sambora have recorded a version of "Stand by Me" with Iranian superstar Andy Madadian in an effort to send a message of global solidarity to the people of Iran, whose country is in the midst of debate and protest over the recent election.

The track, available for free download, was not intended to be sold or released on CD, according to producer Don Was. In the intro to the video, Was says the song is intended to be downloaded and shared by the Iranian people "to give voice to the sentiment that all people of the world stand together."

During the video--which takes a behind-the-scenes look at the recording session--Bon Jovi and Madadian hold up signs that say "We are one" in English and in Farsi.

The video is available at My Damn Channel.
