Creed firms up summertime return to the road

Creed , whose original lineup recently announced the end of the group's six-year hiatus, has firmed up the dates and venues for its summer and fall US tour.

All four of the Orlando-based rock outfit's original members--frontman Scott Stapp, guitarist Mark Tremonti, drummer Scott Phillips and bassist Brian Marshall--will return to the stage for the outing, which begins Aug. 6 in Burgettstown, PA. The 41-city trek will visit major markets across the nation before wrapping up Oct. 14 in Nashville. Details are below.

"We never felt like we weren't together," Stapp told People.com. "We're not looking at this as a reunion. It's more of a rebirth."

The Grammy-winning band has plans for a new album, tentatively titled "Full Circle," which would be its first set of new material since 2001's "Weathered."

"The likely title track is 'Full Circle,'" Stapp recently unveiled to Rolling Stone. "It's really a favorite for all of us. It really defines and articulates, melody-wise and lyrically, what's happened with us. We've come full circle and it's a great place to be. The goal is to release the first single before the tour and have the album come out during the tour or right after."

The multi-platinum group hit the big-time with its 1997 debut, "My Own Prison," which spawned four Top 5 singles on Billboard's Mainstream Rock Tracks chart and sold more than six million copies. Their second and third studio efforts--1999's "Human Clay" and 2001's "Weathered"--continued the band's mainstream radio reign, with the single "With Arms Wide Open" scaling the Billboard Hot 100 and winning a Grammy Award in 2000 for Best Rock Song.

The group's most recent release, 2004's "Greatest Hits," hit shelves shortly after the quartet announced its break-up.
