Neil Young
"Neil Young Archives Volume 1 (1963-1972)"
(Reprise)
The first volume of Neil Young's Archives series has hit retailers, and fans are already raving about the Young-produced set. Covering his time with The Squires in the early 1960s through his classic 1972 release, "Harvest," the massive 10-disc collection includes everything from previously unreleased songs, versions, mixes and rare tracks to special feature videos and "Journey Through the Past," the singer/songwriter's first theatrical release dating back to 1973. A digital download card included in the box allows fans access to mp3 files of all 128 audio tracks included in the package.
Iron Maiden
"Flight 666"
(Universal)
The first leg of Iron Maiden's legendary "Somewhere Back in Time World Tour" last year is chronicled on this two-disc set, available now. With a kick-off show in Mumbai, India, the 23-date tour touched down on five continents in just 45 days, thanks to the piloting prowess of lead singer Bruce Dickinson and the band's customized Boeing 757, known as Ed Force One. Snippets of the 50,000-mile trek are featured on the documentary, including travel footage and 16 songs performed in different cities on the outing.
Jonas Brothers
"Jonas Brothers: The Concert Experience"
(Walt Disney)
Disney's hot pop trio the Jonas Brothers will bring their "Concert Experience" to shelves June 30. The live DVD, which comes as a single disc or as a two-disc extended edition with digital copy, chronicles the brothers' "Burnin' Up" concert tour that swept arenas last summer. Live footage includes performances of "That's Just the Way We Roll," "Video Girl," "S.O.S." and "Burnin' Up," complete with pyrotechnics, water effects and appearances by special guests Demi Lovato and Taylor Swift. Two songs not seen in theaters and "Up Close and Personal: Behind the Scenes with the Jonas Brothers" make up the disc's bonus material.
Depeche Mode
"The Dark Progression"
(Sexy Intellectual/MVD Visual)
Depeche Mode fans will soon have a documentary about the rockers to accompany their new studio album, "Sounds of the Universe," which surfaced in April. Hitting shelves June 16, the 97-minute DVD follows the development of the English new-wave pioneers, including archival footage, rare performances and exclusive interviews with the band members and associates. Among the songs featured on the disc are hits "Personal Jesus," "Just Can't Get Enough," "People Are People" and "Walking in My Shoes."
Deep Purple
"History, Hits & Highlights '68-'76"
(Eagle Rock)
With nearly five hours of entertainment, Deep Purple's latest DVD release, available now, spans the British band's career through four different lineups from 1968 to 1976. The majority of the 287 minutes features full-length performances of hits from that period, including "Fireball," "In Rock," "Machine Head" and "Burn." Archived interviews, previously unreleased TV footage and a look back at the group's lengthy time together also made it onto the expansive double-disc set.
