O.A.R. plots late summer tour dates

Currently headed into summer on the first leg of the "This Town Tour," named after the leadoff track from the band's latest album, alt-rockers O.A.R. have added a second leg of summer dates.

The group continues its current stretch June 5 in Morrison, CO, the first of 10 cities remaining on the June outing. The tour picks up again Aug. 6 in Hartford, CT, and continues through early September, with about 20 new dates in all. Details are included below.

Released last July, "All Sides" follows 2005's "Stories of a Stranger, and is the band's sixth studio album. The themes on the record were inspired by the group's recent trip to the Middle East, according to frontman Marc Roberge.

"I called the demos the 'All Sides' demos because they were really coming from all directions," Roberge told LiveDaily last year. "These songs were relationship songs, songs about just playing in a band and songs from all different aspects of our lives. When we went over to Iraq and Kuwait in September, we had almost finished writing for the record. Upon our return, we decided to write a song about our experience there called 'War Song.' It's not a song about war, our belief in war or our non-belief in war. It's about the warriors, the soldiers of all backgrounds.

"That really led to the title of the album, as well. Then, you got a song about straight-up experience of traveling the world. I think the title fits because the songs are coming from all directions. They're all consistent in some way."

The album debuted at No. 13 on The Billboard 200, an improvement on the No. 40 slot attained by the band's previous effort, "Stories of a Stranger."
