In June, Taylor and his band head overseas for a month of European dates. The singer's international schedule can be found at his website.
"Covers," which hit stores in September, debuted at No. 4 on The Billboard 200, selling 94,500 units its first week, according to a press release. The set is an American songbook that features classics made famous by artists including Buddy Holly, Dixie Chicks, The Temptations, Leonard Cohen, George Jones and Eddie Cochran--songs that Taylor has performed live over the years but never recorded. The single "It's Growing" is currently in the Top 20 on the Hot Adult Contemporary chart.
Taylor recorded the album during a 10-day session in his Massachusetts barn-turned-studio. He and his 12-piece Band of Legends improvised the songs on the spot and recorded live. Their efforts have earned Taylor two Grammy nominations: Best Pop Vocal Album and Best Male Pop Vocal for the track "Wichita Lineman."
Last month, Taylor released "Other Covers," a companion piece to the 2008 album. The seven-track mini-album features material that Taylor couldn't fit on the earlier set, including covers of Eddie Floyd's "Knock on Wood" and Wilson Pickett's "In the Midnight Hour."
