Patty Griffin lines up dates with Emmylou Harris

Patty Griffin has been tapped for the opening slot on Emmylou Harris’ October U.S. concert dates and November U.K. dates, according to Interscope Records. Griffin has just completed work on her third and latest album “Silver Bell,” according to the label.

Griffin’s stint with Harris begins on Oct. 12 in Greensburg, Penn., and comprises five stops throughout the Northeast, the last of which takes place in New York City on Oct. 19. The union between the two artists stems from Harris’ vocal contribution to the track “Truth” from Griffin’s forthcoming album. The disc is scheduled for release early next year, according to Interscope.

Prior to hitting the road with Harris, Griffin has an Oct. 7 appearance scheduled in Sedona, Ariz., where she will be participating in the Verde Valley School Music Festival. Proceeds from the event, which is hosted by singer Jackson Browne, will benefit the Native American Scholarship Project, according to Interscope. Other artists appearing at the event include Trisha Yearwood, Bruce Cockburn and Keb’ Mo’.

The singer-songwriter has been touring most recently with Dixie Chicks on that trio’s hugely successful tour in support of “Fly.” Her last date with the Chicks takes place on Saturday night (9/30) in Orlando, Fla.

Griffin’s first album was “Living with Ghosts” in 1996, followed by “Flaming Red” in 1998.
