The Killers map new fall US shows

The Killers will return from their European summer tour to play at least a few newly added dates in the Midwest and Western US.

Along with the new additions to the band's schedule--Aug. 8 in Elizabeth, IN; Sept. 22 in Sacramento, CA; and Sept. 25 in Boise, ID--the group has shuffled its upcoming show in Phoenix, originally scheduled for this week, to Sept. 28.

The band continues its current trek Friday night (4/17) in its hometown of Las Vegas. The outing runs through early May, after which the group will take a short break before hopping a plane across the Atlantic to begin its European engagement. Those dates can be found at The Killers' official website.

The Killers worked with Scottish electronic-music whiz Stuart Price (Madonna, Missy Elliot) on "Day & Age," its third album and proper follow-up to 2006's "Sam's Town" (The band released "Sawdust," a collection of studio outtakes and b-sides, last year).

"We have a lot of different influences--everything from David Byrne, [Bruce] Springsteen to U2 and Duran Duran as well--and different things'll pop out at different times," guitarist Dave Keuning explained to LiveDaily about the new set in February. "We just felt like, 'Why not try a little bit of this "tropical rock"?' or whatever you want to call it. There's some darker stuff on this album, too. We just covered some new ground we haven't covered before. We're not limiting ourselves."

Released in September, the album peaked at No. 6 on The Billboard 200 chart, and has sold almost a half-million copies in the US, according to Nielsen SoundScan. Worldwide, the set has sold 1.6 million copies.
