U.K. Charts: Madonna takes two top-10 album spots
LONDON--Madonna ended Robbie Williams ’ three-week reign at the top of the Official U.K. Album Chart on Sunday (9/24) as "Music" debuted at No. 1, selling over 300,000 copies in its first week. As a result of the album's release, her "Immaculate Collection" from 1990 also jumped up the chart from No. 30 to No. 8.
Williams’ third album, "Sing When You’re Winning," which has sold over 900,000 copies in four weeks, fell to No. 2, while soul star Craig David ’s "Born to Do It" fell one place to No. 3. Eminem’s "The Marshall Mathers LP" also fell one place to No. 4, as did David Gray’s "White Ladders," which was bumped down to No. 5.
Other notable new entries in the Top 50 this week included the Pretenders at No. 21, the Dum Dums at No. 27 and Bjork at No. 34.
Meanwhile, Mariah Carey & Westlife’s "Against All Odds" debuted at the top of the Official U.K. Singles Chart, making it the boy band’s sixth No.1 single in a row. Rock act Zombie Nation took the No. 2 spot with "Kernkraft 400," sending Modjo’s "Lady Hear Me Tonight" to No. 3.
Other new entries in the top 10 included Billie Piper with "Something Deep Inside" at No. 4, Pink with "Most Girls" at No. 5 and Sisqo’s "Unleash the Dragon" at No. 6.
DJ Sonique’s latest single "Sky" fell from No. 4 to No. 8, pop group S Club 7’s "Natural" from No. 3 to No. 10 and Kylie Minogue’s "On a Night Like This" fell from No. 2 to No. 11.
