David Cook continues spring road trip
"American Idol" winner David Cook continues his education on the road this month, resuming a tour schedule heavy with college campus appearances.
The singer kicked off the tour last month in Tallahassee, FL, and will continue things Friday night (3/20) in Atlantic City, NJ, the first of two shows at the Borgata resort. The college slant will continue during the performer's remaining dates this month and on through Cook's April tour plans. Following the hotel/casino shows, Cook will launch a slate of nine straight campus appearances March 24 in York, PA. Details are included below.
Cook's self-titled debut hit stores in November, surfacing a week after the release of the similarly self-tiled debut album by his main competitor and "American Idol" runner-up, David Archuleta.
"David Cook," which has been certified platinum in the US with shipments of over 1 million copies, was produced by Grammy-winner Rob Cavallo (Kid Rock, Green Day) and features 13 tracks, nine of which Cook co-wrote with such veteran songwriters as Chris Cornell and Brian Howes. The record's first single, "Light On," was co-written by Cook and Cornell.
After "Light On" debuted at No. 17 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in September, Cook waited until early March to simultaneously release the album's second and third singles, "Bar-ba-sol" and "Come Back to Me," to radio stations.
