Kid Rock, Lynyrd Skynryd join forces again
Kid Rock and Lynyrd Skynyrd will pair up this summer for another go at their "Rock and Rebels" co-headlining tour, which first launched last year.
The rock heavyweights will hit the trail together beginning June 26 in West Palm Beach, FL, visiting 22 outdoor amphitheaters from coast to coast. The summertime tour currently wraps up August 2 at New York's Nikon at Jones Beach Theater. Details are listed below.
Lynyrd Skynyrd will first finish up a two-week European run in late May before hitting the road with Kid Rock, whose own schedule includes an April 26 headlining gig at Indio, CA's Stagecoach Festival.
Rock's most recent release, 2007's "Rock 'N' Roll Jesus," debuted at No. 1 and stayed the course, becoming the one of the best-selling albums of 2008. He also celebrated two Grammy nominations this year--one for Best Male Pop Vocal Performance for his hit single "All Summer Long" and another for Best Rock Album for "Rock 'N' Roll Jesus."
Lynyrd Skynyrd, which lost long-time pianist Billy Powell in January when the roadie-turned-band member passed away of an apparent heart attack, has been working on the follow-up to 2003's "Vicious Cycle" with Marilyn Manson/Rob Zombie guitarist John 5. No word yet on when the new studio effort will be available.
