Jane's, Beasties, Depeche Mode tapped for Lollapalooza

Lollapalooza will return to its roots this year with founding act Jane's Addiction --featuring the band's original lineup of Perry Farrell, Dave Navarro, Stephen Perkins and Eric Avery--among the acts scheduled to appear, according to a Chicago Tribune report. Jane's, which headlined the first Lollapalooza tour in 1991, reportedly will be joined on the bill by Depeche Mode and the Beastie Boys at the fifth annual gig, set for Aug. 7-9 at Chicago's Grant Park.

The lineup for Lollapalooza, which was formed by Farrell as touring festival that ran from 1991-97, has not been confirmed by promoters, but The Tribune cited multiple unnamed sources inside the music industry as having said that Jane's, the Beasties and DM are definitely on the bill. Three more arena-level headliners are expected to be included when the complete lineup is announced next month.

The Beastie Boys, who last played Lollapalooza in 1994, are expected to release a new studio album this year. Depeche Mode will release its 12th album, "Sounds of the Universe," on April 21. The British synth band has never played Lollapalooza.
