U2 plots 'Late Show' takeover

With the street date quickly approaching for their forthcoming album, Irish rockers U2 have booked an unprecedented five-night stand as the musical act on "The Late Show with David Letterman."

The group is slated to begin the weeklong stint Monday, March 2, on the eve of the new album's release. The following day, the new set, "No Line on the Horizon," lands in stores. Featured on the set, which is U2's 12th album, is the band's current hit single, "Get On Your Boots."

U2's upcoming Letterman engagement will be the group's first time on the show since October 29, 2001, and will also mark the first time a musical guest has been featured for a full week, according to a press release.
