Stone Temple Pilots, Godsmack, Disturbed join forces for U.S. tour
Stone Temple Pilots and Disturbed --who recently announced plans to head out on a short tour later this month--will be joined on the road by Godsmack in late October, according to STP’s official website. STP has also been confirmed as one of the many acts scheduled to appear in New Orleans on Oct. 28 as part of the second annual Voodoo Music Festival, according to STP’s management.
The STP-Godsmack-Disturbed triple bill--dubbed MTV’s Return of the Rock tour--is set to kick off in Pittsburgh on Oct. 20, and is currently scheduled to run until Nov. 10. The tour roughly coincides with the release of Godsmack’s new album “Awake,” which is scheduled to hit shelves on Halloween, according to Billboard. The disc is the follow-up to the Boston-based band’s 1998 self-titled, breakthrough debut, which featured the hits “Whatever,” “Keep Away” and “Voodoo.”
The Return of the Rock tour will follow a series of STP headlining dates with Disturbed, as well as a number of STP radio festival appearances. The group is still in the midst of its stint with Red Hot Chili Peppers, for whom they have been opening since July 30. That run is scheduled to wrap up on Sept. 22 in Seattle.
On Oct. 28, STP--on a day off from the Return of the Rock tour--plans to perform as part of New Orleans’ second annual Voodoo Music Festival. Other acts scheduled to appear at the event include Eminem, 311, Cypress Hill, Counting Crows, Live, Blues Traveler, Black Eyed Peas and others.
