New Green Day album due in May

"21st Century Breakdown," Green Day 's long-awaited follow-up to 2004's Grammy-winning album "American Idiot" will land in stores this May.

The new set, produced by Butch Vig (Nirvana, Smashing Pumpkins), is available for pre-order for the discounted price of $11.99 via the band's official website.

Green Day presented the Album of the Year award to Robert Plant and Alison Krauss at the 51st annual Grammy ceremony on Sunday (2/8), but the trio revealed the album plans the following day via its website.

According to an AP Magazine feature, the 16-track album will be spread across three acts: Heroes and Cons, Charlatans and Saints.
