NBA announces performers for All-Star Game events
John Legend and Latin rocker Juanes will perform Feb. 15 during the NBA All-Star Game's halftime show at US Airways Center in Phoenix.
Five-time Grammy winner Legend will perform his song "If You're Out There," which he debuted at the Democratic National Convention in August, according to The Arizona Republic. An NBA video featuring players urging fans to participate in community service will be shown while Legend performs.
In addition, Corbin Bleu, best known for his role in "High School Musical," will sing during halftime Feb. 13 at the Rookie Challenge & Youth Jam event.
"American Idol" finalist Elliot Yamin will perform Feb. 14 at the All-Star Saturday Night event. He will be joined by R&B singer Kevin Rudolf, who will sing his hit "Let It Rock."
Grammy-nominated R&B singer Tamia, whose husband is Phoenix Suns forward Grant Hill, will perform the national anthem before the 58th All-Star Game.
Other activities surrounding the All-Star Game include the NBA's annual day of service, Feb. 13, during which current and former basketball stars, NBA staff and Arizona fans volunteer to refurbish and clean homes of Arizonans in need. Legend is expected to participate in the day of service in addition to performing at the big game.
