Plans set for Neil Diamond's MusiCares Person of the Year fete
Neil Diamond will be honored Feb. 6 as the 2009 MusiCares Person of the Year at a gala event that will celebrate his exceptional artistic achievements as well as his philanthropic work, according to a press release.
The annual event, which will take place at the Los Angeles Convention Center, will begin with a special reception and silent auction followed by gala dinner, an award presentation and a tribute concert featuring Coldplay, Foo Fighters, Adele, Josh Groban, Jennifer Hudson, Raul Malo, Tim McGraw and more. Also featured will be a concert performance by honoree Diamond.
MusiCares is the charitable arm of The Recording Academy. Established in 1989, MusiCares provides a safety net of critical assistance for music people in times of need. MusiCares' services and resources cover a wide range of financial, medical and personal emergencies. The organization also offers nationwide educational workshops covering a variety of subjects including substance abuse issues. The MusiCares MAP Fund allows access to addiction-recovery treatment and sober-living resources for members of the music community regardless of their financial circumstances.
