Journey's 'Don't Stop Believin'' sets online sales mark

Journey 's "Don't Stop Believin'" has become the first catalog track in history to achieve online digital sales of more than 2 million units, according to a press release.

The song, originally released in 1981, was first made available at Apple's iTunes Music Store in April 2003. Since then, it has become the top-selling catalog track in iTunes history.

The song's resurgence in popularity began in June 2007 when it was played during the final scene of the HBO series "The Sopranos." It also was featured in the movie "Monster," on Fox TV's "Family Guy" and MTV's "Laguna Beach."

"Don't Stop Believin'," which originally was included on Journey's "Escape" album, also received a lot of attention in 2005 when it became the unofficial theme song for that year's World Series Champions, the Chicago White Sox. Journey's original frontman Steve Perry performed the song at the '05 World Series celebration in Chicago.
