Report: Madonna dedicates 'Virgin' to Pope

Madonna --never one to shy away from controversy--dedicated her song "Like A Virgin" to the Pope during her Saturday night (9/6) concert at Olympic Stadium in Rome, according to the BBC News. "I dedicate this song to the Pope, because I'm a child of God," she reportedly told the 60,000 in attendance at the Italian capital. "All of you are children of God."

Two years ago, Madonna--who has a long history of using religious imagery in her work--was criticized by the Catholic Church for staging a mock crucifixion at her Olympic Stadium show in Rome.

The 50-year-old superstar kicked off her Sticky & Sweet tour last month in Cardiff and will play Wembley Stadium in London this week (9/11).
