Posh Spice Sidelined By Viral Meningitis
LONDON--Spice Girl Victoria Beckham was diagnosed with viral meningitis on Friday (9/1) while in Germany preparing to promote her new single "Out of Your Mind," which features Dane Bowers and the True Steppers. Because of her illness, she canceled a string of appearances and returned home to England to rest.
Doctors said that she had a less serious strain of the disease, which infects the fine membranes around the brain and spinal cord, and is expected to recover in one or two weeks.
"Out of Your Mind," Posh Spice Beckham’s first solo release, is currently at No. 5 on the U.K. singles chart after debuting at No. 2 two weeks ago. The next Spice Girls album, "Forever," is to be released on Nov. 7, and will be preceded by the double A-side single "Let Love Lead the Way/Holler Holler" on Oct. 24.
