New Britney Spears interview in OK!, new VMA promos

Britney Spears opens up about her life in a OK! magazine article due out tomorrow (8/14), yet apparently steers clear of talking about her psychiatric problems, hospitalizations and erratic behavior such as shaving her head. Instead, in an article that OK! Is billing as a "tell all," she talks about her new album, her sister's pregnancy and her children.

In a preview of the article, Spears says she hopes her children don't want to follow in her footsteps and become entertainers. "I'd love them unconditionally if they wanted to," she reportedly says. "I'd just as soon they have a more normal childhood."

She also tells the magazine she was "shocked a little bit" when she first heard about her 16-year-old sisterJamie-Lynn's pregnancy. "The baby was having a baby. It was mind-boggling," she said.

Though initially shocked, Spears seems supportive of her sister's decision, telling the magazine she hopes Jamie-Lynn's baby daughter, Maddie, and her sons, Sean Preston and Jayden James, will be close.

The 26-year-old pop star, who was interviewed at her Beverly Hills home with her father and conservator at her side, said she is writing her new album and thinks it may be her best work ever. The album, which Spears expects to release in six to nine months, is more urban than previous works, she said.

Spears' father, Jamie, seems willing--from article previews--to talk about about his daughter's recent troubles. He says Britney's dark days have helped improve her relationship with her parents. "If this hadn't happened, I would never have been able to get back with my daughter and have this relationship I have with these two little boys," he said.

He also said Spears' ex-husband Kevin Federline has a good heart, and that he thinks his daughter will soon regain shared custody of the boys.

The article, for which Spears reportedly was paid $1 million, seems to be a launching pad for the resurrection of the pop star's career. She reportedly is in talks to appear at this year's MTV's Video Music Awards. For those keeping track, Spears was expected to make a "comeback" at last year's VMAs but instead, simply added fuel to the fire with a widely-panned, unfocused and uninspired performance.

Though a spokesperson for MTV only acknowledged that negotiations were in the works, Spears is already being featured in advertising for the event, alongside host Russell Brand. In fact, if the ads--in which she is seen bantering with the British star with an elephant literally in the room--are any indication of Spears newest "comeback," things could be looking up for the troubled entertainer; the video clips are clever; she looks bright eyed and, as revealed in this year's appearance on "How I Met Your Mother," Spears' comedic timing and delivery are a bright light in her recently foggy career.
