Radiohead Let Fans Remix Single

Radiohead is again taking advantage of the digital world in marketing its music by launching a new website at which fans can remix the band's next single, "Nude," and upload the new mix so others can listen to and vote for their favorite version of the song.

To make remixing easy, the separate stems--the component parts of the song--can be purchased at Apple's iTunes store. The stems available include bass, voice, guitar, strings/fx, and drums. The stems can be mixed in any way, either by adding beats and instrumentation or just remixing the original parts.

According to a press release, if all five stems are purchased from iTunes during the first week they are available, prior to April 8, the buyer will be sent an access code to a GarageBand file, ready to open in either GarageBand or Logic. However, all stems are available in iTunes Plus and compatible with several music software platforms.

Finished mixes can be uploaded to radioheadremix.com, where the public will listen and vote for their favorite remix. Voting ends May 1. Fans also can create a widget allowing votes from their own website, Facebook or MySpace page.
