Gnarls Barkley Album Gets Early Release

Gnarls Barkley released their new album, "The Odd Couple," yesterday (3/18)--three weeks earlier than the scheduled April 8 release. The official reason for pushing up the release date: the band felt the time was right to just go for it, according to a statement on the band's website.

"With the shifting seasons, furtive romantic entanglements and fierce college basketball rivalries, the latter half of March can be confusing," the statement read. "People need to be soothed and inspired now." Or maybe the early release was due to the fact that a digital version of the album has already been leaked online?

The video for "Run," the first single from "The Odd Couple," garnered a lot of attention earlier this month when MTV UK banned it, saying it failed to pass the Harding Test, which determines if strobe effects have potential to trigger epileptic seizures, according to published reports. The video, featuring Justin Timberlake, was edited and is now safely running in the UK, while an unedited version airs on MTV in the US.
