The Black Crowes Slam Maxim On Album "Review"

Maxim magazine recently published a tepid review of The Black Crowes ' new album, "Warpaint," without actually hearing the disc, the band claims.

There were not any advance copies of the CD released, so it would be impossible for anyone at Maxim to have listened to the album, according to a statement issued by the band. The statement claims that, in an email correspondence with a band spokesperson, Maxim admitted that sometimes they don't want to ignore big albums that aren't available to preview so they take "an educated guess."

"Warpaint" is The Black Crowes' first new album in seven years. The band is set to perform the album in its entirety on a "One Night Only" run of US shows in March.

The Crowes also are scheduled to play Mar. 15 at Stubb's BBQ in Austin, TX, during South by Southwest. The Crowes then head down under to kick off an Australian tour with a headlining gig at the East Coast Blues & Roots Festival. The Australian leg of the tour will be followed with two European shows--London, Apr. 9, and Amsterdam, Apr. 11. In May, the band heads out on a major market US tour with details to be announced in the near future, according to the band's website.
