Garth Brooks Floats Plan Make His Home A Tourist Attraction

Garth Brooks is expected to ask planning commissioners in Goodlettsville, Tenn., for a zoning variance this week that would allow him to convert his family’s home--dubbed the “Blue Rose Estate”--into a tourist attraction, according to the Nashville Tennessean.

The country music superstar bought the home 1991. His attorney told the newspaper that the proposed attraction would be an "opportunity for folks to view the home and the barn and see the personal effects of Garth and [his wife] Sandy and kind of capture in time their home life as it was during this wonderful 10 years that they've lived on that property."

Brooks’ attorneys mailed a letter to dozens of people who live near Brooks’ 20-acre estate asking for their input on the plan. "Our clients appreciate having you as their neighbors and want to give you an opportunity to voice your questions," the letter reportedly said. "…No final decisions have been made about the ultimate use of the property."

Some neighbors are leery of the plan, which Brooks’ attorneys described as “preliminary.” Those who received the letters will have a chance to voice their concerns at a neighborhood meeting scheduled to take place on Wednesday (8/16). Garth and Sandy Brooks will not attend.

Among the musicians who have established tourist attractions near their Tennessee homes are Elvis Presley, Conway Twitty, Dolly Parton and Loretta Lynn.
