Jennifer Hudson, Robin Thicke team up for spring outing
Grammy-winning R&B artists Jennifer Hudson and Robin Thicke will embark on a co-headlining tour of the US next month.
The six-week trek is scheduled to launch March 31 in Albany, NY, and visit 19 cities from coast to coast, including Philadelphia, New York City, Atlanta, Detroit, Chicago, Los Angeles and Dallas. Details are listed below.
The road trip marks the first official tour for Hudson, who recently won a Grammy for her self-titled debut and just took home three NAACP Image Awards: Outstanding New Artist, Outstanding Album and Outstanding Duo for her collaboration with Fantasia on "I'm His Only Woman."
"I am so grateful," Hudson said in a statement. "My first Grammy and my first tour; it doesn't get any better than this!"
The former "American Idol" contestant landed the No. 2 spot on The Billboard 200 when she dropped her Arista Records debut in September. So far, the album has spawned the No. 1 R&B/hip-hop hit "Spotlight" as well as Hudson's latest single, "If This Isn't Love."
The critically acclaimed singer/actress returned to the stage earlier this month to perform at Super Bowl XLIII in Tampa, FL, marking her first public appearance since her mother, brother and nephew were murdered in their Chicago home Oct. 28.
Thicke is supporting his third album, "Something Else," which also surfaced in September and made it into the Top 3 on the US album chart. That set has scored R&B/hip-hop hits with "Magic" and "The Sweetest Love."
"Something Else" follows the soul man's platinum-selling sophomore set, "The Evolution of Robin Thicke," which gave him his first No. 1 single, "Lost Without U." That album's success kept Thicke busy in the awards department, as he collected a slew of nominations and took home the VH1 Soul/Vibe Awards' Best Breakthrough Artist trophy and ASCAP's Song of the Year honor.
