Beyonce takes 'Sasha Fierce' on world tour
North American dates are starting to roll in for Beyonce 's "I Am ..." world tour, her first full-length outing since 2007.
So far, the pop star has confirmed four late-March performances in Canada and an April 1 gig in Seattle. Tickets for those dates, listed below, go on sale to the general public this Saturday (2/21), and pre-sale offers will be available over the next couple of days through Ticketmaster (LiveDaily's parent company) and Live Nation.
Beyonce's European itinerary, announced in December, stretches from late April to early June. Further information about those shows and VIP ticket packages is available at Ticketmaster's SLO website.
On the road, Beyonce will perform songs from her latest chart-topping album, "I Am ... Sasha Fierce," as well previous hits and classics, according to her website. Her new high-tech production will include the singer's all-female band.
"I Am ... Sasha Fierce" surfaced in November and became Beyonce's third consecutive studio album to top The Billboard 200. The multi-platinum-selling set is separated into two discs to reveal different sides of the superstar's personality: "I Am ..." showcases a group of intimate ballads, while "Sasha Fierce" represents Beyonce's sensual, aggressive, fun, glamorous, dance-oriented side.
"Sasha Fierce is my alter ego and now she has a last name," Beyonce explained in her bio. "I have someone else that takes over when it's time for me to work and when I'm on stage--this alter ego that I've created that kind of protects me and who I really am."
So far, the record has scored radio hits with "Single Ladies," "If I Were A Boy," "Halo" and "Diva," all of which are streaming at Beyonce's MySpace page. Her version of "At Last" from her latest film project, "Cadillac Records," can also be heard there.
"I Am ... Sasha Fierce" follows 2006's mega-smash "B'Day," which won a Grammy for Best Contemporary R&B Album and has achieved triple-platinum status.
Between her solo career and her time with Destiny's Child, Beyonce has collected 10 Grammy trophies. Last week, she was given an NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Female Artist.
