The B-52's line up spring dates
The B-52's have mapped a slate of spring tour dates as they continue to support "Funplex," which ended a 16-year gap with no new material from the group.
The veteran band's schedule shows a few live dates this month, beginning with a Friday night (2/6) show in Orlando, FL. A more substantial outing takes shape this spring, when a 10-city trek kicks off May 5 in Peekskill, NY. Details are included below.
"Funplex" turned up in stores last March. The band worked on the record in their native Athens with producer Steve Osborne (New Order, KT Tunstall). The 11-track set features song credits from all of the band's surviving original members: Kate Pierson, Fred Schneider, Keith Strickland and Cindy Wilson. (Cindy Wilson's brother, founding guitarist Ricky Wilson, died of AIDS-related complications in 1985. He was 32.)
"It's loud, sexy rock and roll for your pleasure zones, with the beat pumped up to hot pink," Strickland said of the album in a press release. "Funplex" debuted at No. 11 on The Billboard 200 following its release, selling about 30,000 copies during its first week, according to Nielsen SoundScan.
The set follows 1992's "Good Stuff," which is the band's only album recorded without Wilson. The vocalist returned to the fold in 1998 to record two tracks for the best-of album "Time Capsule."
