Diana Krall looks North for 'Quiet' outing
Diana Krall has lined up a slate of concerts this spring in her native Canada to back her new studio set, "Quiet Nights," which hits stores in late March.
The pianist/singer first will tackle a few Hawaiian shows, starting with March 19 and 20 appearances in Honolulu, before heading back to her homeland for the spring dates. The outing kicks off April 15 in Calgary, Alberta, canvassing the country before winding up May 13 in Vancouver,. Details are included below.
"Quiet Nights," Krall's 12th album, combines Brazilian and West Coast jazz styles, according to a press release. The set features three covers of songs originally composed by bossa nova legend Antonio Carlos Jobim.
Krall co-produced the album with Tommy LiPuma (Miles Davis, Al Jarreau) and worked with composer/arranger Claus Ogerman, a frequent Jobim collaborator, for the first time since her 2001 LP, "The Look of Love."
"Quiet Nights" is Krall's first full-length studio release since 2006's "From This Moment On." In 2007, Verve released "The Very Best of Diana Krall," which was the first career retrospective of the singer's music.
