Joan Osborne To Tour Behind ‘Righteous Love’

Joan Osborne will lay the groundwork for the Sept. 21 release of her new album, titled “Righteous Love,” with a tour that gets underway on Sept. 1. Though the tour opens with shows at the New York State Fair in Syracuse and at Seattle’s Bumbershoot Festival, the itinerary is dominated by appearances at theaters and clubs.

Osborne was dropped by the Mercury/Island/Def Jam label in January, but she quickly signed a deal with Interscope Records. Ironically, both labels fall under the Universal Music Group umbrella.

The title track from the new album is also featured on HBO’s “Sex and the City” soundtrack, which was released in June.

More than 3 million copies of “Relish,” Osborne’s 1995 debut for Mercury Records, have been sold to date, according to the Recording Industry Association of America.
