Brad Paisley scores ninth consecutive No. 1 single
Country star Brad Paisley will kick off the final leg of his long-running 2008-2009 tour later this week with his ninth consecutive No. 1 single under his belt.
The concluding leg of "The Paisley Party" trek, which began last summer, kicks off Jan. 15 in Southaven, MS. Fellow country star Dierks Bentley and Hootie & The Blowfish frontman Darius Rucker will serve as special guests for the remainder of the tour. Dates are below.
Paisley recently released "Play," his seventh studio album and the follow-up to 2007's "5th Gear." The album features mainly instrumentals, along with five duets with other vocalists, including Keith Urban, B.B. King and Buck Owens. An all-star guitar jam, "Cluster Pluck," features guest stars Wariner, Vince Gill, James Burton, John Jorgensen, Albert Lee, Brent Mason and Redd Volkaert.
"Start a Band," featuring Urban, recently became the performer's ninth consecutive No. 1 single and 13th of his career. The song debuted at No. 30 in September, rising to the No. 1 spot this week. "5th Gear," the singer's previous set, spawned five No. 1 singles.
Paisley has played in more than 60 cities on his current tour, and more than 200,000 tickets have been sold for the outing's remaining dates, according to a press release.
"People are buying tickets and coming to shows, especially in this economy I know they've made a choice between my show and something else," Paisley said in a press statement. "I really want to give them their money's worth. I want to be as creative as I can. It's about going out there and doing my best and giving them the biggest, coolest show we can."
