Dave Matthews Band moves on with spring album, tour

The Dave Matthews Band --rebounding after the recent death of a founding member--will issue its first new studio album in four years on April 14, and will launch a tour the same day.

The outing launches at New York City's Madison Square Garden, and stops are set in more than a dozen cities. Highlights include two-night stands in the band's home base of Charlottesville, VA, as well as in the Atlanta area. A stop is also planned at the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival. The currently confirmed itinerary is included below.

Tickets go on sale to the general public on Jan. 17, according to a press release, except for the Nashville show, which goes on sale Jan. 16. In keeping with DMB's longstanding policy, members of the band's fan club will have the opportunity to purchase tickets during a pre-sale period; details are available at the fan club website.

Dave Matthews Band's forthcoming set, which hasn't been titled yet, is being produced by Rob Cavallo (Green Day, My Chemical Romance). It's the group's first studio release since 2005's "Stand Up," which was the fourth consecutive DMB album to debut at No. 1 on The Billboard 200 album chart.

The band suffered a tragic loss during its 2008 tour, when founding member LeRoi Moore died at age 46 of complications related to injuries he suffered in a June all-terrain vehicle accident.

Joining Matthews on the upcoming tour will be longtime cohorts Carter Beauford (drums), Stefan Lessard (bass) and Boyd Tinsley (violin). Filling out the lineup this spring and on the new album will be Tim Reynolds on guitar, Rashawn Ross on trumpet and Jeff Coffin on saxophone.
