Ryan Adams [ tickets ] & the Cardinals are just finishing a North American jaunt opening for Oasis [ tickets ] and will start the New Year with headlining tours in the US and Down Under.

Adams and company have a half-dozen arena dates with Oasis through next week before they take a break and then head overseas in late January for a run of gigs in Australia and New Zealand. They'll return to the US trail in late February for more than a dozen theater performances around the East Coast and South. Stateside shows are included below and those overseas can be found at the Cardinals' website.

The alt-country-tinged indie-rockers are supporting their new album, "Cardinology," which surfaced in October and reached No. 11 on The Billboard 200. So far, the set has spawned the Triple A radio hit "Fix It," which continues to hold steady in the Top 10 after 10 weeks. The tune is streaming at Adams' MySpace page.

"Cardinology" follows last year's "Easy Tiger," which returned Adams to the fold after his prolific 2005 output that included the "Cold Roses" double album and "Jacksonville City Nights," both of which are credited to Adams & the Cardinals. A third set, "29," is billed as an Adams solo album.

The North Carolina-born singer/songwriter, who fronted the band Whiskeytown during the '90s and has been singled out for his sometimes erratic behavior, has reportedly turned to sobriety over the last couple of years. Adams continues to churn out music at lightning speed, and is already working on the demos for his next project, according to Billboard.
