Cheap Trick maps year-ending outing

Veteran rockers Cheap Trick have lined up a few dates for the remainder of December and into early 2009, and may have a new album on the way for fans.

The group's next show is to night (12/11) in Dubuque, I, with dates planned through the end of the month, including a New Year's Eve show in Bossier City, LA. Highlights include a pair of dates in West Hollywood, CA (12/15-16) and, looking further ahead, a Feb. 7 show in Atlantic City. Details are included below.

The band released its latest album, 2006's "Rockford," on its own Cheap Trick Unlimited/Big3 Records label. The album, the group's first since 2003's "Special One," was hailed by fans and critics alike as a return to form for the veteran rockers.

Cheap Trick--frontman Robin Zander, guitarist Rick Nielsen, bassist Tom Petersson and drummer Bun E. Carlos--formed in the early '70s and released its self-titled debut album in 1977. The band's most commercially successful release is 1979's "Live at Budokan," which spawned the hit "I Want You to Want Me."

According to an interview with Nielsen on Billboard.com, the group has worked recently with producer Julien Raymond on a follow-up to "Rockford," and also plans to release a CD/DVD from its 30th anniversary visit to Budokan last spring. The group also hopes to soon nail down a release date for its 1998 re-working of the band's 1977's "In Color" LP with producer Steve Albini.
