'Restless Collin Tour' ready to roll

Country artists Collin Raye and Restless Heart will hook up next weekend to launch the first round of dates on the "Restless Collin Tour."

The outing is set to start Dec. 10 in Acoma, NM, with a Christmas-themed show that will continue in a few California cities through mid-month. One-off performances are also booked in Florida, Pennsylvania and Missouri in January, March and August, respectively, with an April two-night stand in Florence, OR. More dates are expected, according to a press release, and confirmed gigs are listed below.

This month's "Gift of Christmas" performances will feature hits made famous by each act intermingled with holiday classics, no doubt including some of those found on Raye's new album, "A Family Christmas."

Raye, who has been singing professionally since he was a teenager, shot to fame in 1991 with "Love, Me" and has since scored five platinum-selling albums, 15 No. 1 hits and 24 Top 10 singles, according to his bio.

The singer's latest non-holiday release is last year's "Selected Hits," a six-song set that comprises versions of four of his No. 1 hits recorded live with the Salt Lake Symphony, and two new studio songs: "A Soldier's Prayer" and "Quitters." Raye is supporting that album with his own dates in and around the "Restless Collin Tour." His full schedule can be found at his website.

Restless Heart has been touring all year to celebrate its 25th anniversary. In 2004, the bandmates--vocalist Larry Stewart, guitarist Greg Jennings, drummer John Dittrich, bassist Paul Gregg and keyboardist Dave Innis--released "Still Restless," their first album of all-new studio material in 14 years. They had disbanded in 1996 and reunited in 2002 for an overseas military-entertainment tour, and have averaged more than 100 shows per year since, according to their bio.

Restless Heart has accrued 26 country hits, with six songs crossing over to the adult contemporary charts. The group has also held the title of the Academy of Country Music's Vocal Group of the Year.
